You’ve heard about them in school, you’ve read about them in the newspapers, you’ve seen copies of them everywhere, but have you seen the real deal ? If not, then it’s definitely recommended that you take the trip to the museums around the world where you can find these paintings. There have been made millions of paintings and only a few of them stand out in the crowd. Here is the list of the world’s most famous paintings of all time!

10.Three Musicians – Pablo Picasso

 Kicking off the list of famous paintings with this incredible piece of art made by Pablo Picasso. It’s actually the name of two similar collage and oil paintings by the famous Spanish painter. They can be located at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and Philidelphia Musem of Art.

9. Guernica – Pablo Picasso

 The Spanish painter made many world’s famous paintings, but none quite like this one. It is a masterpiece of art that illustrates the bombing of Guernica during the Spanish Civil War and was mas painted in 1937.  It’s so sacred that it’s not allowed to transport this famous painting anywhere, no matter the security. It will forever stay in Museo Reina Sofia, Madrid, Spain.

8. The Night Watch – Rembrandt van Rjin

 No we’re not talking about something famous in 2016, we’re talking about something that’s been famous for houndreds of years. This painting is from 1642 and was made by Rembrandt van Rjin, a famous dutch painter. It illustrates the french war in the 1600’s.

7. The Persistence Of Memory – Salvador Dali

 A painting that was actually created after 1900! It was painted by the Spanish artist in 1931.  The reason why this painting is so famous, is because it’s supposed to make you think about how to spend your life and time.  It’s also supposedly inspired by Albert Einstein’s Theory of Relativity.

6. Girl With A Pearl Earring – Johannes Vermeer

 This painting was painted by Johannes Vermeer and is considered the dutch reply to Mona Lisa. It’s the oldest painting on this list of the world’s most famous paintings, it was made around 1665! You can find this beautiful piece of art in the Mauritshuis Gallery in Hague, Netherlands.

5. Starry Night – Vincent van Gogh.

 This man is known for several famous paintings, however the painting Starry Night is his most famous by far. His world’s famous master piece was painted in 1889 and depicts the view from his room at the sanitarium he was staying at.

4. The Creation Of Adam – Michelangelo

 A fresco painting by Michelangelo that is forming one of the parts from the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling, illustrating the biblical creation narrative from the famous book called Book of Genesis. “The god breathes life into adam” This painting can be found in Vaican City, Rome, Italy and it’s believed it took 4 years to paint it (1508-1512) .  Sitting under the roof creating this famous painting almost made Michelangelo blind from the paint dripping down on his eyes.

3. Scream – Edvard Munch

 It may look simple, but it’s definitely qualified as one of the world’s most famous painting. Experts says that this painting was a masterpiece because of it’s dilusional effect. People claim that they have got the nausea for a week straight after looking at the painting for 20 minutes. It was painted by a Norwegian man called Edvard Munch, and there has only been speculations to what he felt when he drew this famous painting. You can find it at The National Gallery Oslo, Norway.

2. The Last Supper – Leonardo Da vinci

 This famous painting is infact one of the world’s most famous paintings for a reason. It is the best recreation as a painting of “the last supper” from when Jesus had his last meal with his disciples. You can find this amazing attraction in the dining hall at Santa Maria delle Grazie monastery in Milan, Italy.

1. Mona lisa – Leonardo Da Vinci

This is a painting everyone should know about, and if you haven’t, you must have been living under a rock. It’s without a doubt the most famous painting in the world.  You can find it as the main attraction of Louvre museum in Paris. It was painted by Leonardo da Vinci in 1503-1519 (yes he spent over 15 years on it, but with breaks of course). It’s a portrait-painting of the woman named Lisa del Giocondo. It was originally meant for her, but Leronardo Da vinci was so satisfied with it that he kept it for himself. It was later bought by King France the first.
